Yes, the "manufacturers" love the Be-Cu because it's easier to tool, and Cu/Ni because it won't oxidize while sitting on shelves; but Be and Ni ares a lousy conductors, and you may feel differently when you listen to alternatives. OTOH... maybe not!...

I have a local audio guy coming to my room recently and he hive
me an interesting feedback. He said that my playback sounds like a headphone. I
had years back, when I lived in Boston apartment somebody told the same things.
There is a point to com...

I have been living very happily with the PP3000 in my living room for a while now, and have had no problems with the new updated version that I finally received after a long effort with the company. Unlike the original unit with the odd internal grou...

“…stop by and bring some of your music….” – how many times we hear when we invited to listen someone’s playback. I am sure all of us have a selected favorite recording to assess playbacks and I would like to share some of mine that I have been ...

All:
Having used a Lynx L22 card for my primary playback system, I can tell
you that it is one fantastic sounding card. I used it for a
little over a year, and eventually I deferred once again to my favorite
non-oversampled DAC from Scott...

It's a very easy to use, little space and processor consuming, free tool that I'm regularly using to record onto my hardisk the radio program my brother in law broadcasts thru internet. It can be configured to record from the S/PDIF or any other digi...
With the stock radio-CD and buzzing fulrange speakers in my Civic I often find myself puzzled how pleasant and musical this crap sounds. If only I could get close to it at home -fruitless pursuit so far .Romy when it comes to tub...

Well, I do not know how about NY, since it is local for you guys, the NY stations might care different source for their broadcasts, but it looks like we around the world are getting very poor quality of MET broadcasts. I do not know where even to sta...

Interesting report from Romy, I got identical results with different units...
some years ago I was a real tuner freak, had 4 at the same time, all started with "recommendations" about those reference Tuners. I...

I am curious how the Lindberg piece came across WGBH last night. Here in Chicago WFMT had the live feed. The results in my home were poor at best. It seemed my system was completely overwhelmed by what Magnus the Great offered. I just don't know wher...

Last night electricity was surprisingly OK, despite of the current heat wave and that everyone runs air-conditioning and I found myself listing deep into high. It was mostly LP and I came to a few interesting observations regarding the sound of my ai...

I have lived with the Koetsu Onyx Platinum also and I agree. I did not really enjoy it very much in my system no matter what I did. However, honestly, when I first heard Koetsu many years ago (it was a Rosewood Pro IV), I was really drawn...
If "all "points in space and time are connected", then would a temporal "gap" and/or its effects be unpredictable, or would there not as likely be a random(izing) effect?
Sorry for the generalization and skipping steps. Of...

Keith,I am sorry, man, but you are so incredibly predictable! Your accents on the assessments of sonic attributes of audio elements are so banal and so “wiling” that is it almost boring. I this giving case, knowing something about the Stahl-Tek...

Now as ever in hi-fi there seems to be no economically viable model for developing, producing, marketing and servicing good sounding equipment. As ever, it remains for the end user to find and develop their own equipment from whatever happens to be ...

Funny, because, as far as I know, this site is the only place that deals with hi-fi in terms of developing sound from a personal perspective. While the book format is a nice way to present information, wouldn't it be nice if the contents were derived...
Tequilahut,You mention Air Motion system. As an example. How do you know you like the sound -- did you listen to them? Or is the aesthetics of horns that you like and that is forming your selection of examples? It's good to kno...

Romy, You are absolutely right, saying "audiophile" which is not capable to hear any criticizm about his system, is very far from inderstanding what the music is. As an amator painter, a joined (long ago) to a group of amators like me, gath...

The idea that Romy brings up is a very interesting way of looking at the audio reproduction of music, by raising questions about human response to situations in which we are compelled to actively participate in the audio process. Old live recor...

Romyi will start building my first hornspeaker, going from theory ( surfing the net ) to practice. i am not pretentious regarding the result, i am very aware of my knowledge limitations and lack of experience, as i am just in the beginning. but the w...

Yep, you re right, the Yamamoto A-06S is SET, I did not read it carefully and I was under presumption that A-06S is PP monoblock. Good for Yamamoto! The only amps I heard with AD1 were PP. Somewhere in the very end 90s I shortly was exposed to i...
But I don't think they are doing this here. What I would bet is that that they are running the thing in A2 with a much lower Z primary, using a lower B+ and high standing current. They are also using feedback which will help the ban...
